When many people were young, they saw their mothers sewing, just like a line from a poem:
“A mother’s hand sews the clothes of a wandering son. Stitching carefully before his departure, fearing he may return late.”
Many people were raised by their parents, but few write poems for their parents.
Parents always like to send their children far away for a better life. They feel that they live a difficult life and want their children to have poetry and distant places.
So many people forget this phrase:
“While parents are alive, do not wander far.”
They take their belongings, with their parents’ hard-earned money, to pursue their dreams.
They promise repeatedly to return and support their parents in the future once they become successful. However, after getting used to the outside world, they feel that their parents are no longer very attractive.
Even if some people come back, they bring with them a mindset that does not truly care for their parents.
Nursing homes used to only accommodate people without children, but now they also accommodate those with children.
Once, when my mother and I were shopping, we passed by a nursing home. Many elderly people were sitting by a small lake, and I was very curious, so we went to take a look.
One elderly person chatted very well with us. He was not a resident of the nursing home, just there for a stroll.
As we chatted, we got along well, and my mother asked the elderly person many questions. Later, we found out that he had several sons and two daughters.
This made us even more curious. In my mother’s eyes, the elderly person was not there just for a stroll, but to inspect the environment, perhaps even considering living there. So, my mother asked, “In old age, is it better to live in a nursing home or with children?”
The elderly person replied, “It’s not up to me. The key is that neither of my sons nor daughters want me.”
After hearing this, we felt very sad. My mother looked at me, as if asking, “Will you want me in the future?”
I looked into my mother’s sharp eyes, held her hand, and left.
Some things cannot be chosen; you cannot choose what kind of child you will have.
If people could choose, everyone would want filial children. After giving birth to filial children, they can choose to stay at home when they grow old, rather than let the children decide whether the elderly stay in the house.
After giving birth to children, people always want to give the best to their children, but in the end, it may all be in vain.
Some people are naturally cruel and do not care about their parents; they consider their parents a burden.
Some elderly people, after being abused by their children, cry and say, “If I had known what you would be like, I would have fed you to the dogs.”
Children are their parents’ weak spot and lifelong concern.
Sometimes, the people who hurt us the most are the ones closest to us.
When children were young, parents always protected them from bullying.
When children grow up, the parents also grow old. At this time, when the parents are mistreated by others, the children do not care.
Two years ago, my uncle offended someone, and that person retaliated by beating my grandfather when he was out shopping.
My grandfather was beaten unconscious, bleeding from the head, lying on the street. My uncle happened to pass by, but he did not pay any attention to my grandfather.
It’s hard to imagine how a son can stand by and watch his father being beaten by his enemy without a care in the world.
Later, my grandfather needed my uncle to testify in court, but he refused to come forward.
Neighbors said my uncle almost killed my grandfather, but he remained indifferent.
What hurt my grandfather the most was not that no one took care of him, but that his own son was so indifferent.
What hurts us the most is not physical harm from others, but the indifference of our loved ones.
Because we care about them, we are hurt by them.
Elderly people always feel that their children are the closest to them, so they cannot bear their children’s indifference.
Many people choose to go to nursing homes instead of enjoying their old age at home because of the harm caused by their family, leaving them disheartened. The once tranquil harbor of the home has become a place of conflict, a wilderness where they want to escape.
The deepest wounds are often inflicted by those closest to us. The harm from others is only physical, but the harm from our closest ones is truly heart-wrenching.
Throughout their lives, parents always want to give the best to their children and protect them.
But because of the lack of gratitude in the world, people feel increasingly insecure.
People used to think that feeling insecure in a relationship was serious, but when they grow up, they realize that feeling insecure about their children is even more terrifying. Because lovers can break up, but the bond with children is inseparable.
