These 3 Things Can Bring You Good Fortune, and Doing One of Them Can Bring You Happiness

Practice Goodness, Enjoy a Lifetime of Happiness

In Buddhist teachings, the consequences of our actions will always come back to us. Our choices in life can lead to different outcomes, and different paths can lead to different lives.

When we’re young, we choose whether to study hard or not. This decision not only affects our future education but also our social status later in life.

As we grow older, we face many crossroads in life. The paths we choose can lead to different outcomes, not all of which are desirable. We may encounter poverty, illness, and misery.

However, if we want to live a smoother life, doing these three things can bring us good fortune and happiness.

Filial Piety

Only Monkey King can jump out of a stone, but for us, we’re here today because of our parents’ hard work and dedication.

Filial piety is the most important virtue. If someone doesn’t respect their parents, they won’t show compassion to others. People like this are often selfish and self-centered, and we tend to avoid them.

As social animals, we need to interact with others in our daily lives. We prefer to be friends with people who have good moral character and a sense of justice.

People who are two-faced, love to gossip, and plot behind others’ backs will be rejected by society. If someone abandons their parents and has no friends, their life will be like a lonely island, even if they’re surrounded by people.

On the other hand, if someone practices filial piety, they’ll get help and care from those around them, and they’ll have a warm haven to rely on in times of trouble.

Good Speech

The power of speech is immense. It can bring the dead back to life, make the living feel like they’re in a grave, and turn a weakling into a giant.

Many people think words are powerless, but they can hurt people deeply. Cyberbullying has become increasingly rampant, and some people have even taken their own lives because of it.

So, before we speak, we should think twice. We shouldn’t criticize others without knowing the full story, and we shouldn’t vent our emotions on others.

Instead, we should try to praise and encourage others as much as possible. This not only helps build their confidence but also helps us build better relationships.

As the saying goes, “When you give roses, you have the remaining fragrance.” By helping others, we’re actually accumulating good karma for ourselves.

Because of these good relationships, when we’re in trouble, we’ll get help from all directions, and others will lend a helping hand.

Good Deeds

Don’t think that small good deeds are insignificant, and don’t think that small evil deeds are harmless.

From a young age, our parents and teachers teach us to help others. We can become someone who helps others, and we’ll also need help from others someday.

No matter how powerful or wealthy we are, we can’t guarantee that we won’t need help from others. Having money and power can only bring us a better material life, but it can’t solve all our problems.

For example, having money can’t cure all illnesses. Even if we’re a leader or a millionaire, we can’t guarantee that we won’t get sick. What’s more important is the psychological comfort we get from others, which can’t be bought with money.

Maybe today we help an old lady cross the street, and tomorrow we help someone find their lost keys. Later, when we’re caught in the rain without an umbrella, the old lady or someone else we helped will share their umbrella with us.

Our actions, no matter how small, can bring different feelings to different people.

Often, we’re not doing things for others; we’re doing them for ourselves, so we can live a better life.
